Acquired in 2020 and reopened with Central Alberta's newest casino in September 2023. Midway between Calgary and Edmonton, it anchors the Nation's hospitality and gaming business and hosts conferences, concerts and community gatherings.

About the Centre

Built by the Nation, for the Nation.

The O'Chiese Business & Investment Centre was established in 2009 to secure the future of O'Chiese First Nation. Today it is the holding and management company for a family of businesses and limited partnerships spanning oil and gas services, retail, heavy equipment and fluid hauling, high speed internet, hospitality, gaming and property management.

Who we are

Economic self reliance, on our own terms.

O'Chiese First Nation is a Saulteaux Nation in Treaty 6 territory. Our lands, O'Chiese 203, sit northwest of Rocky Mountain House in the foothills of west central Alberta, with natural gas beneath them and Sunchild Road running through them.

The Centre exists so that what is produced on and around those lands builds something lasting for our members. By establishing and running successful local businesses, and by supporting local entrepreneurs, we turn resources into revenue, revenue into services, and services into a higher standard of living for the generations that follow.

We are a structured organization, established and sanctioned by O'Chiese First Nation Chief and Council and governed by an appointed Board of Directors. Every company under our umbrella is held through proper business and legal frameworks that minimize risk while adopting sound commercial practice.

2009
The O'Chiese Business & Investment Centre is established and sanctioned by Chief and Council as the Nation's business arm.
2020
The Nation acquires the former Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre in Red Deer, a 241 room property midway between Calgary and Edmonton.
2023
Red Deer Resort & Casino opens its 38,000 square foot casino in September, followed by the new Event Centre.
Today
Nine companies and partnerships across energy, industrial services, hospitality and gaming, retail and fuel, housing and technology, with a mandate to grow through partnership and investment.
